Minutes Matter Bristol was founded by Sarah and Matt, two experienced professionals driven by a shared passion for saving lives through practical education. Together, they offer high-quality, realistic training in Basic Life Support and Emergency Bleeding Control. Their combined professional backgrounds mean they understand the real-world challenges of responding to emergencies and tailor their sessions to reflect that. All training is delivered in accordance with the most current guidelines from the Resuscitation Council (UK) and incorporates interactive, hands-on practice that boosts learner confidence.
Our commitment goes beyond healthcare environments. We actively deliver affordable, accessible training to community groups, charitable organisations, and individuals — because many emergencies happen not in hospitals, but in homes and public spaces. We also believe in giving back: we regularly offer free or subsidised training to schools, youth organisations, and charities, ensuring everyone has the opportunity to gain life-saving skills.
We are proud partners of the Daniel Baird Foundation and approved providers of their Emergency Bleed Control training. This partnership reflects our mission to promote the widespread availability and understanding of bleeding control kits in public and private spaces.
Sarah brings over 30 years of nursing experience, specialising in acquired brain injury, neurological, and degenerative conditions and palliative care.
A skilled and practiced trainer, she began delivering Basic Life Support (BLS) at age 20 with Frenchay City Life Savers and went on to serve seven years as a Training Development Officer for the South West Region. Her calm, clear teaching style is shaped by decades of hands-on experience in high-pressure clinical settings, where every minute truly does matter.
Sarah is deeply committed to community health and education, having volunteered with St John Ambulance to teach children essential first aid skills. She’s also an active fundraiser for St Peter’s Hospice and a long-time puppy raiser for Guide Dogs.
With over 30 years of experience as a front-line police officer, Matt brings a wealth of real-world knowledge to every training session.
After retiring from the force, he turned his focus to working with young people in alternative education settings, gaining both a master’s degree and teaching qualifications as a mature student.
Matt has spent years coaching and mentoring young people at risk of entering the criminal justice system, helping them find new paths and positive futures. His passion lies in community-based work, especially around prevention and early intervention.
Matt’s background in crime scene management and emergency response means his teaching is grounded in real-life scenarios — giving participants the confidence to step up and take action when it matters most.
Whether training the public, professionals, or young people, Sarah and Matt are passionate about giving others the skills and confidence to save lives when it counts — because they know first hand that it makes a difference.
